Permaculture in Chyangsar

print
Some of the training sessions in Chyangsar are now lead by a trained permaculture expert. Permaculture means consciously shaping and maintaining agriculturally productive ecosystems that are diverseenduring and capable of selfregulation.

The expert explains to the villagers, for example, that caterpillars on cabbage are not necessarily bad. You just have to harvest the vegetables earlier. He also warns against using hybrid seeds from large companies that are cheap and very attractive to many people. Although the vegetables are getting pretty big, they also become dependent on chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
