To curb the kidnapping…

…and to better control children’s homes after the earthquake, a strict control of the birth certificates was introduced. Without them, they cannot attend public school and do not get citizenship at the age of 16. Originally, this could only be applied for through the fathers, now it is also possible through the mothers. For this, however, she first needs one herself.

If the women are separated from their husbands then they have to go back to their villages. The process is lengthy, expensive and often dangerous or humiliating for women.

That’s why we make sure that all our #scholarship holders have these important documents, talk to their parents and support them in the process. So, 12 out of 15 girls in #Chyangsar already have a birth certificate!
