What it is about
- Often only a small start-up financing is required, which enables women in Nepal to build up their own livelihood and lets them earn their own income. After the earthquake in 2015, 30 women in Chyangsar (Solukumbu) decided to take their fate into their own hands. In an official registered women's community "Shree Sidhapuri Women development commettee Kerung-1-Chyangshar" a monthly meeting was held and money collected. Each of the 30 women put $ 1 into the community pot each month. When they had about half of the money to start the first group, Roots for Life added the missing amount. Soon, ten women could buy chickens to generate income from eggs, the breeding and sale of laying hens. Roots for Life will also contribute the last 10% to the other two groups if necessary. Together we want to initiate sustainable projects in the village, in the responsibility of the women's community, in which Roots for Life will be a sponsoring member.
